Hotels in Berlin, Germany

Berlin is split into twelve very different districts, called Bezirke, and the one you book in shapes the whole trip. Here are 36 hotels in Berlin, Germany, sorted by district and by style: grand old names on Pariser Platz, converted factories in Friedrichshain, family apartments in Prenzlauer Berg, plain and cheap rooms out on the U-Bahn lines.

Booking a Berlin hotel from the US: what to know first

Berlin is not laid out like an American city. There is no single downtown. The government quarter, the big museums and the grand hotels sit in Mitte, but the restaurants, bars and galleries most visitors come for are spread across Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Prenzlauer Berg, Neukölln and Schöneberg, all of them a short ride apart. Almost every address on this page is within a few minutes of a U-Bahn stop (the subway) or an S-Bahn stop (the above-ground commuter rail), and both run on the same ticket.

Every rate on this site is the lowest nightly starting price we track for that property, quoted in euros. We do not convert them to dollars, because any figure we printed would be stale by the time you booked. Use your card's rate on the day, and expect the amount on your statement to land a little off the number on the booking page.

Under €100 7 hotels
budget chains, hostels with private rooms and simple properties out along the U-Bahn
€100 to €180 18 hotels
the broad middle: three- and four-star properties, aparthotels, most boutique addresses
€180 to €300 7 hotels
upscale design hotels and the softer end of the five-star bracket
€300 and up 4 hotels
the grand hotels: Adlon, Hotel de Rome, Waldorf Astoria, Regent

Two line items trip up most first-time visitors. Breakfast is usually a separate charge in Berlin rather than something the rate includes, and it is rarely worth it: there is a good bakery or café on nearly every block, and it costs less. Berlin also levies a city tax on overnight stays, calculated as a share of the room rate, so the total at checkout can sit slightly above the rate you booked. Guests traveling on business can be exempt under certain conditions, so check the current rules if that applies to you.

The rest is a question of neighborhood. Pick the district first and the hotel second: our 10 district sections below run through every property we cover, and each district page explains who that part of Berlin actually suits.
